Ant Man and the Wasp

Ant-Man and the Wasp is the sequel to the first Ant-Man and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily and Micheal Douglas. This is, I think, the 20th Marvel movie and the studio still has yet to make a bad entry. This one takes place after Civil War, but before Infinity War. Scott Lang has been under house arrest for two years because of his involvement in Civil War which violated a set of intergovernmental rules known as the Sokovia Accords that stemmed from the events in Age of Ultron. Scott only has a couple of days left of his arrest, but he is put in danger of being sent to prison when he his kidnapped by Hank and Hope. They explain that they are building a machine that could potentially bring back their mother from the Quantum Realm, a subatomic wasteland that's very hard to come back from. Others find out about the nature of this machine and lo and behold we have the villains.
Image result for ant man and the wasp       The first Ant-Man was surprisingly comedic and this sequel, in my mind, matches the first's humor and overall fun. It's vastly different from Infinity War in terms of execution and tone. Ant-Man and the Wasp is a brighter and more light action superhero movie that serves as a nice tissue to wipe away those tears you might still have from the previous Marvel movie.
My only small gripe with this movie is that it barely stands on its own. You have to have seen a slew of some previous Marvel movies to get the gist of whats going on and for some people, that might be a pain. I've seen every single one up to this point so I had no trouble, but I fear it might confuse some people who haven't seen every entry. In fact, that's probably the one thing about the MCU that people might not like. In order to enjoy the more recent ones in their entirety, it somewhat requires a viewing of the older films. This is fine and all, at least for me, but for people that don't see a lot of movies, it'll stir some confusion. It's like a television series and each phase in the MCU is a season, so right now we're on season 4 metaphorically. If you have that mentality, then you're going to have more fun with these movies.
Other than that, this film is a fun, light marvel movie that will hold you over till the next one. The main cast is wonderful as well and benefits from an eccentric and diverse supporting cast. It doesn't bring anything new to the MCU, but it just wants to be another entry. Go check it out and give yourself a good time.  8.5/10
